The Society of Friends (also known as Quakers) organized local congregations as Monthly Meetings, which met regularly for worship and to conduct the business and oversight of the religious community.
Monthly Meeting minutes document the activities of the meeting and its members. Genealogical information may include names of individuals and family members; admissions to and changes in membership; authorizations for marriage; births and deaths; certificates of removal and transfers between meetings; places of residence and migration; disciplinary actions; assistance provided to widows, orphans, and other members in need; and appointments to committees or other responsibilities.
