THE EIGHTH ANNUAL REPORT OF THE GENEA¬ LOGICAL SOCIETY OF PENNSYLVANIA. The Board of Directors of your Society in presenting the eighth annual report of the Society believe, that during the past year they have faithfully carried out the work for which this Society was originally founded, that is, the col¬ lecting, copying, and properly binding and indexing of records and valuable historical and genealogical matter, and placing them in such serviceable shape that any of the members of the Society can find data which otherwise would be out of the reach of most of them. There is much work yet to be accomplished; in fact, our collections of the past few years which are put before you to-night are only yet in their infancy. Every day, week, or month, your Board hears of papers which would be invaluable, but our work is limited by our resources. That the work is appreciated and being made use of, a casual examination of the bound copies will easily prove so much so, in fact, that in certain cases some of the col¬ lections may have to be rebound to preserve them. It is the hope of your Board to have eventually such room or space in the Historical Society that our collections can be displayed and arranged with better facility for research and use than the}' are at present ; we are indebted to the Historical Society for what has been done, and we know that they will, with their desire always to aid us, do in the future what can be done to add to the efficiency of ' our work.
