THIRTY-EIGHTH ANNUAL REPORT OF THE GENEA¬ LOGICAL SOCIETY OF PENNSYLVANIA. READ AT THE ANNUAL MEETING, MARCH 3, 1930. To the Members of The Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania • The Board of Directors begs to submit the following report for the calendar year ending December 31, 1929: At the Thirty-seventh Annual Meeting of the Society held March 4, 1929, the following named officers and directors were elected: President: Charles P. Keith. Vice-Presidents : John Frederick Lewis, Edward Robins, Charles F. Jenkins. Recording Secretary: Ernest Spofford. Corresponding Secretary: Miss M. Atherton Leach. Historian: Frank Worthington Melvin. Treasurer: Ogden Dungan Wilkinson. Directors to serve three years • David Milne, Dr. Wilbur P. Klapp, Edwin Jaquette Sellers. Following the election, Mr. Charles F. Jenkins delivered an interesting and scholarly address illustrated with lantern slides entitled The Re¬ lated Signers.*’ The usual BUpper was then served. At the March meeting the appreciative thanks of the Board were extended to Mr. Frank H. Stewart for his generous contribution to the N ieukirk Fund. At the same meeting a second appeal to members for contributions to the Gilbert Cope Fund was authorized. Work on the Cope Collection of manuscripts, family sketches and genealogical notes has steadily progressed until there are now sixty bound volumes on the Society's shelves. There is a reasonable prospect that the work will be completed in the first half of 1930. At the October meeting the presentation to the History Society of photostat copies of important letters and documents belonging to Mr. Philip M. Lansdale, of Palo Alto, California, was authorized. At this same meeting it was Resolved, That the Board of Directors record keen regret at the loss by death of Hampton L. Carson, on July 18, 1929, and of Thomas Lynch Montgomery, on October 1, 1929, whose relations with this Society as Life Members and as officers of the Historical Society, were at all times generous and sympathetic, whose charm and encour¬ agement will be missed; and that the Secretary be directed to convey to Mrs. Carson and Mrs. Montgomery a copy of this minute together with the deepest sympathy of the Board. “ Number Three, Volume X of the Society’s Publication has been dis¬ tributed to the membership.
