David Denny, third son of Captain Walter Denny of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, who was killed at the battle of Crooked Billet in the Revolution, was graduated at Dickinson College, licensed to preach by the Presbytery of Carlisle about 1792, was installed over the two congregations in Path Valley In 1794 and continued there until 1801,, when he was transferred to the Falling Spring Church in Chambersburg, which charge he retained until the close of his public ministry. He died at his residence in Chambers¬ burg, Tuesday, December 16th, 1845. in his seventy-eighth year. J About 1767, a Presbyterian congregation was formed in Path Valley, be¬ tween the Klttoch tinny mountains on the east and Tuscarora mountain on the west, then in Cumberland now In Franklin County. A difference as to the location of the church edifice culminated in the formation of two congregations, ** Upper Tuscarora ” and “ Path Valley.” These were united as one charge in 1773 and were thereafter known as the Upper and Dower Churches of Path Valley.
