Mrs. Katherine M. Taylor At the Workshop held 26 April 1966, the Genealogical Society regretfully announced the retirement of Mrs. Katherine M. Taylor, our faithful Administrative Assistant for nearly a quarter of a century. Mrs. Taylor joined the staff of the Society in February 1943, as assistant to the late Miss Elizabeth McMahon. Upon the latter's death in August 1951, Mrs. Taylor assumed Miss McMahon's duties. Functioning under five presidents of the Society: the late Harold E. Gillingham, Dr. Roy Franklin Nichols, Norman Joy Greene, Dr. J. Bennett Hill, and the present incumbent, Charles R. Barclay, Mrs. Taylor has been the one continuing link in the Society's affairs. All of us have had recourse to her, at one time or another, for information on what happened before our time, for methods of procedure or operating office techniques. Her great fund of knowledge will be sorely missed. Affectionately known as Kitty to both members of the Society and to the Board, her consistently cheerful manner and willing help made many friends for the Society. In grateful recognition of her years of faithful service, she was presented with a Philadelphia Liberty Bowl on which are illustrations of historic events in the city. It was accompanied by a generous check and the universal good wishes of the Society for many years of happy retirement with her daughter and grandchildren.
