ADDITIONS AND CoRRECTIONS 44:101‑21. (Terri Bradshaw O Neill, ̀̀A Corrected Lineage of Hon. John Moore of South Carolina and Pennsylvania ). The article stated thatJohn Moore (1659‑1732) arrived in the Province Of South Carolina in 1683 with a wife, Katherine, and an appointment to the office of Secretary Of the Province. The wife s given name was reported in Louis Effingham DeForest and Anne Lawrence Marston DeForest, m11iam Hemy Moore 。nd his 4nces均′, ui脇4ccounis Qr Jhe Moore J*zmilies Zn Zhe 4merican Colonies, and supported by A. S. Salley, Jr. , 1Vamntsjbr LancおZn South Cdrolina J672‑17Il, Page 408. The marriage record forJohn Moore and Katherine鵜WaS nOt located in Eng‑ 1and or Barbados, the most likely locations for the event. While searching for Katherine s sumame (believed to be Selwood, based on research done to find a link to the Colleton family), a mOnumental inscription from a bし血al in St. Andrew s Parish, Jamaica, Seemingly pointed toward a Moore/Martin connection. The tombstone bore the armorial bearings of the Martin family impaled by the bearings of those used by SOme mem‑ bers of the Moore family in America: ten CrOSSeS, CrOSSlet. The monumen‑ tal inscription commemorated the burials ofJohn Martin, his wife Fran‑ CeS, and Richard Moore, merChant, Who was a son ofHon.John Moore by his second wife, Rebecca Axtell. This joint monument, along with other records, SuggeSted to the author and editor that Richard Moore was buried with his halfsister, Frances (Moore) and her husband, John Martin. Though a plausible sし1P‑ POSition, it proved to be an erroneous one. The recent posting on FamilySearch of images of indexed registers from Jamaica includes images of the following entries from St. Andrew s Parish, Kingston: 1 John Martin married Frances Wastel1 27 Feb 1700/1 Richard Moore married Rachel Martin 14 Apri1 1736 Wastel, SOn OfJohn & Frances Martin baptized 23Jan 1702/3; buried 21 Sep 1707 Mary, daughter ofJohn & Frances Martin baptized 18 Mar 1703[/4] Frances, daughter ofJohn & Frances Martin baptized 2うOct 1705 John, SOn OfJohn & Frances Martin, baptized 4Jun 1706; buried 6 Oct 1707 1 Jamaica ChしIrCh ofEngland Parish RegisterTranscripts, 1664‑1880. The sumame of Hon.John Moore s first Wife, Katherine, is still unknown, aS is his connection to the Colleton fam‑ ily, the likely source of the patronage that secured his offices in the Prov‑ ince of South Carolina.
