KEENEY FAMILY RECORD CUMBERLAND AND PHILADELPHIA COUNTIES contributed by Aaron Goodwin* A photostat of this handwritten record is in the Bible Record Collection of the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania. The provenance of the Bible1 is described in a 24 February 1928 letter from Philadelphia. History of the Keeney Bible—The enclosed records are a photostatic copy of the records in the Bible belonging to my Grandfather, Abel Keeney and his wife Delilah Hogner (a corruption of the original name Van Hagner—who came from Holland). My Grandfather made the early entries in it. The Bible was given to my Father—Caleb Reynolds Keeney when his Father moved to Philadelphia from Carlisle, Pennsylvania—where all the children were born. Why he gave it to my Father instead of one of the older sons, I do not know— but all through my life it rested on a table in Father’s home—Caleb Reynolds Keeney’s at 1601 Arch St., Phila. He filled in the marriages of his Brothers, they having mostly scattered through the West. On the death of my Father it passed into the possession of my brother, William Reynolds Keeney—318 E. Lancaster Pike–St. Davids, who completed the records, and in whose possession it now is. (Mrs. George L.) Mary E. K. John Hogner Keeney was born June the 23 in the year 1816 on Sunday. Rebecca Susanah Keeney was born May the 11, 1817 on Monday Morning 11 o’c. Priscilla Elizabeth Keeney was born June 13, 1819 on Sunday at 12 in day. Fielding Hogner Keeney was born Oct 19, 1821 at 2 oclock at night.
